Description of Volunteer Opportunities:

Beautification:  Help keep our school looking beautiful.  Claxton PTA will have regularly scheduled workdays for projects around the school, and a list of ongoing needs, which can be done when you have the time to offer.

Book Fair:  PTA Committee chairs will need  several people to assist with the book fair.

Cultural Arts: Assist the PTA Committee chairs with various cultural arts programs.

Health and Safety:  This committee provides information and activities that promote safety consciousness and healthy habits.

Kid’s Vote: This committee coordinates the Kid’s Voting Booth at Claxton during the November election.

Reading Incentives: Assisting PTA committee chairs in planning and implementing the school wide reading program.

Hospitality: Assisting PTA committee chairs in organizing and supplying treats for school wide social events.

Character Education:  This involves 30 minutes to an hour once a month in the classroom to carry out the lesson for that month.

Computer Lab Volunteer: Assisting in the computer lab.

Tutor: Tutoring may be one-on-one or in groups. No experience is necessary.

Lunch Buddy: If you can have lunch at Claxton on a regular basis (every other week), you could become a special person to a child at Claxton who needs a buddy.

Media Center Volunteer:  Assisting in the library with shelving and checking out books for the students.

General Volunteer:  You want to help, but can’t do it on a regular basis. We will call you during the year for specific projects, both during the day and at night.

Yearbook:  Helping compile photos and data for the yearbook.

Skate Night:  Helping at the skating rink on prearranged Skate Nights.

Fall Fundraiser:  Organizing orders, counting money, and helping pass out orders on delivery day.

Silent Auction: Helping set up and clean up for the event.

Science Fair:  Volunteering the day of the event to help with the various experiments.

5^th Grade Celebration:  Organizing the graduation party for our 5^th graders.

Field Day: Helping out the day of the event by running an activity.

Spring Carnival:  Lots of volunteers are needed on the day of the event for various things; i.e. selling tickets, handling food, and chaperoning entertainment.
