Reflections is a National PTA program hosted by participating county School districts. Guilford County PTA encourages students to explore their artistic talents by creating works of art in all forms for fun and recognition. All Claxton entries will be collected and judged by a panel according to guidelines on artistic merit, relevance to the theme, etc. The top four entries in each category (see below) will go up to the district level for judging; winners there go up to the state PTA level and then on to the national contest. ALL Claxton work will be displayed at Claxton in February 2017, and participants will attend a special reception with Dr. Burgman.
2016-2017 Theme: What's Your Story?
There will be a box in the teachers' mailroom for entries, or you may deliver to Corrie Lisk-Hurst, Cultural Arts/Reflections Chairperson
Categories of Artwork
Claxton Elementary PTA hopes that many Claxton Stars choose to create and submit their creative work on the theme of "What's your story?" in the areas of:
- Student work is judged according to category and grade level (K-2, 3-5, and special artists).
- All work must be the original work of the student; written work may be typed by another person if dictated by the student.
- Entry Forms must be completed - the Artist Statement on that form accounts for HALF of the judges' decision.
- 2-D visual art must be 24 x 30 inches or less, writing should not exceed 2000 words.
For detailed entry guidelines or questions about suitability of an entry, please contact Corrie Lisk-Hurst.
